The Saviour Jesus vs. Idols that cannot save

Galatians 1:16

  • God was pleased to reveal His Son to me, in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles.

God the Father wanted to reveal His Son Jesus to Paul. God wanted to reveal the Son of God to Paul, so that with the grace he received from God, he might preach Jesus among the Gentiles who were generally excluded from the promises, covenants and salvation of God.

Ephesians 2:12
  • remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

We, Gentiles, unlike Israelites had no hope and without God in this world. But now that Jesus is preached among us, we have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light.

Colossians 1:13

  • He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.

And we, in Jesus, have been forgiven through our co-death, co-burial and co-resurrection with the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

  • in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:14)

  • We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:4)

  • Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. (Romans 6:8)

  • We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. (2 Corinthians 4:10)

  • Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; (2 Timothy 2:11)

Paul preached Jesus among the nations throughout the Roman empire, so that people everywhere may come to know Jesus and worship Him as Lord and Saviour, and turn from their idols that cannot save.
